Cinco Ranch Branch Library Hosts Summer Family Movie Series

The Youth Services department at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library will feature “Family Movie Day” — a free movie series for families with kids of all ages — in June. The movies will begin at 1:30 p.m., in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy.

The movie series will begin on Friday, June 8, with an Emmy-award winning animated family adventure film, released in 2017. A young boy named Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician, but he is hindered by his family’s ancestral ban on music. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel journeys to the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer, in hopes of lifting the curse. This movie is rated PG.

The series continues on Friday, June 22. In this 2017 animated family film, legendary race car Lightning McQueen is blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, and he finds himself pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he must embrace new technologies that test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage! This movie is rated G.

The movies are free and open to the public. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. The library is unable to accommodate school groups or daycares at these activities.

The libraries’ licensing agreement for public showing of films prohibits them from releasing the name of the movie outside of the library.
