Sen. Cruz: Trump’s RINs Solution is a ‘Win-Win’ for Corn Farmers and Refinery Workers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued the following statement applauding President Trump’s decision today addressing the skyrocketing price of RINs, a decision that is a ‘win-win’ solution for both corn farmers and refinery workers.

“Today was the conclusion of six months of productive meetings with the President, the administration, and many of my colleagues in the Senate,” Sen. Cruz said. “I applaud President Trump for his final decision, moving forward with a deal that is a win-win for both corn farmers and blue-collar refinery workers. The President’s deal will allow corn farmers to sell more corn by permitting the sale of E15 year-round—which according to ethanol producers will result in an additional 700 million gallons of ethanol sold, or an additional 280 million bushels of corn—and will help struggling blue collar refinery workers by allowing exported ethanol to provide much-needed RINs relief.

“For too long, the broken RINs system has hurt the backbone of our nation’s economy – our farmers and refinery workers. But the President is standing with these hardworking Americans. I thank President Trump for fighting for the men and women who work so hard to put food on the table, who have been worried about whether their jobs hang in the balance. With the President’s leadership, a long-standing problem threatening the jobs of thousands of Americans will be fixed. This is good for farmers, refiners, and America.”
