Youth Fashion Week is a summer fashion camp developed by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in partnership with the Cooperative Extension program. The Program is will be held at the Fort Bend County Extension Office on July 17-20, 2018, from 8:00 am until 3:30 p.m. each day. Youth Fashion Week is a summer camp designed to take youth on a 4 day exploration through the Fashion Industry. The camp focuses on fashion design and illustration, sewing, modeling, buying, fashion show production, applying for fashion school, and careers in the fashion industry. Youth Fashion Week is open to youth ages 10-17 years old.
Campers face challenges each day that help to stimulate their creativity and encourage team building and team work. Each day will bring about a different challenge, from designing outfits, recreating designs, to creating a new look. The participants will have the opportunity to learn about the art of fashion as well as the history of fashion and designers. The participants will have the opportunity to learn how to illustrate a design in order to help create a line of clothing and how perfecting illustration and design can be turned into a career. In our sewing class students learned how to use the sewing machine to create a stylish garment. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about modeling and photography, fashion merchandising, and bargain shopping for stylish pieces. They will have the opportunity to learn how to create products that they could turn into an income stream. Participants will learn about the art of makeup application, and hair styling. The participants will also participate in a fashion show where they will model the looks they create.
