Katy ISD Breaks Ground on New Agricultural Sciences Center

KATY [April 27, 2018] – The Katy Junior High band created the perfect ambiance for the official groundbreaking ceremony of the new Katy Independent School District Agricultural Sciences Center.  The 125 acres’ expansion to the Gerald D. Young Agriculture Sciences Center is the last project of the voter-approved 2014 bond and it’s expected to be ready for the 2019 Katy ISD Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The new construction will include an outdoor pavilion, multi-purpose show area, a project center building, a multi-purpose covered outdoor arena, eco-pond, parking and roadways.  As Katy ISD continues to grow every year, the center will accommodate eight high schools and the expansion of the agriculture education program curriculum.  Currently Katy ISD has approximately 3,300 Future Farmers of American (FFA) students.  Previously, the livestock show and rodeo events took place at the L.D. Robinson Pavilion which was built in 2004.

This project is a reality because of the collaboration between the general contractor Stewart Builders and the architectural firm VLK Architects.  To view photos of the groundbreaking event, click here.
