Olson Announces Sugar Land Student Receives Us Merchant Marine Academy Appointment

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced that Cyrus Eradi of Sugar Land, TX has received an appointment to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy for the fall of 2018. Eradi is a senior at Clements High School and a TX-22 resident. He is Student Council Class Treasurer and a member of the National Honor Society. He has received the Commanding Officer of the Clements High School and NJROTC Unit George C. Marshall Academic and Leadership Medal as well as the Military Order of the Purple Heart Medal. Olson will present Eradi with a proclamation congratulating him on his appointment. Eradi is the ninth TX-22 student to receive an academy appointment this year.

Cyrus Eradi Military academy appointees are evaluated for a variety of qualifications including: moral character, strong academic record, demonstrated leadership potential, physical fitness, and commitment to serve a five-year military term in the United States Armed Forces upon graduation.

“Cyrus’s appointment to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy is a reflection of his academic excellence and outstanding community service,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “His accomplishment brings enormous pride to our community. It’s an honor to recognize this young man for his commitment to protect and defend our nation through service in one of our military academies. As a former Navy pilot, I’m thrilled to congratulate Cyrus on his appointment.  I’m confident he will honorably serve our nation with pride and distinction.”
