Katy Youth takes Gold National Ranking

On April 7, 2018 the Katy Youth Choir – Bella Voce Choir competed in the WorldStrides Heritage Festival and took home a Gold National Ranking.  Because of this high ranking, the choir has been invited to compete in the National Festival of Gold in Chicago in 2019.  “Winning this gold ranking was a huge accomplishment for our program”, says Artistic Director, Megan Comin, “It proves that our community choral program is a quality program that supplements what is being taught in the schools in Texas.  We are pioneering a new type of choral program here in Texas and this award validates that we are on the right track.”

The Katy Youth Choir (KYC) program is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization under the Noyes Fine Arts Foundation.  Founded in 2011 by Dr. Debra Siebert and now under the direction of Artistic Director, Megan Comin, the award-winning Katy Youth Choir is devoted to “Inspire the Artist Within” each child through the power of music.  The KYC program provides vocal and choral music education of high quality to youth in the Katy area who represent richly diverse backgrounds.  The Katy Youth Choir strives to ignite a love of singing, nurture each chorister’s potential for excellence in vocal music education, and instill self-discipline and confidence. There are currently 4 choirs in the Katy Youth Choir program with the Bella Voce choir being the signature choir.  Each choir’s curriculum is designed to supplement the choral programs in the Katy Independent School District.

Working alongside the schools allows all children and youth in the Katy area to have the opportunity to experience the benefits of choral singing and enhance their musicality through the KYC program.  Whether a child is striving to get into their Varsity school choir, looking for more opportunities to perform, has a desire to learn music in a choral setting or simply loves to sing, the Katy Youth Choir has a choir for everyone.  More information about our Choirs, Programs, Concerts and Camps can be found on the Katy Youth Choir website at http://kyc.nfaf.org.
