TAO: Drum Heart to Entertain Houston with a Modern Twist on Traditional Japanese Drumming 

WHAT:          Society for the Performing Arts (SPA) proudly presents TAO: Drum Heart, the latest production from internationally-acclaimed percussion artists DRUM TAO. Combining highly physical, large-scale drumming with contemporary costumes, precise choreography and innovative visuals, the performers of TAO: Drum Heart create an energetic and unforgettable production that showcases the ancient art of Japanese drumming.

MORE:           TAO first gained attention in 2004 when they attended the world’s largest festival of the arts – the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and made number one box-office smash hit of the festival in spite of their first participation. TAO’ started spreading overseas after their success at the Festival Fringe and three month long-run show in Germany and Australia tour were made as their first world tour career. After being invited to perform at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010, every single show was sold-out on their first North American tour, which visited 44 cities.

Drum Heart is the newest production from TAO and has critics raving about TAO’s extraordinary precision, energy, and stamina. With hundreds of sold-out shows and more than 6.5 million spectators worldwide, TAO has proven that modern entertainment based on the timeless, traditional art of Japanese drumming, entertains international audiences again and again.
