Sen. Cruz: This Easter, We Celebrate Christ’s Triumph Over Sin and Death

HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) issued the following statement in observance of Easter:

“Though in the last year our state has endured a number of challenges, including the devastating winds and floods of Hurricane Harvey, to the shooting at Sutherland Springs and the bombings in Austin, Texans have stood united. As we gather together in celebration of Easter, we give thanks to God for His steadfast mercy and grace in spite of these troubles. This weekend, we remember the ultimate price paid by Jesus Christ for our sins, and celebrate his triumphant resurrection over sin and death so that we might live in fellowship with God. As told in the Gospel of Luke:

“On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, ‘Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!’”

“Heidi and I wish you and your family a very Happy Easter.”
