Lung Cancer Survivor Heads to Capitol Hill to Fight for Cancer Research Funding

One of hundreds of LUNG FORCE Heroes from across nation taking action

HOUSTON – (March 14, 2018) – Today, Clara Lambert, from Houston, will join other lung cancer survivors, caregivers and advocates from across the country on in Washington, D.C. Note: Photos available upon request.

They will urge their Senators and Representatives to continue to invest in research to ultimately defeat lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer deaths, as well as share why quality and affordable healthcare is vital for those living with lung cancer.

It’s all part of the American Lung Association’s third annual LUNG FORCE Advocacy Day and Lambert is participating because she is one of the few patients who survived lung cancer now for almost nine years.

“I had the most awesome oncologist and radiologist and staff working with me for me. They beat me up with 35 radiations and six chemos at the same time! But I am a sturdy monkey and I survived, so I can be a spokesperson and example for lung cancer healing the number one cancer killer,” said Lambert.

“No one ever told me if I did get through this, I’d most likely never get passed one year. But nine years coming up this July 1. We have come a long way in detecting some cancers but lung cancer research still has far to go and that’s why I’m here,” she said.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths. There will be over 15,460 people in Texas diagnosed with lung cancer and 9,310 will succumb to the deadly disease in 2018.
