Mayde Creek High’s Production of Silent Sky Shines Light On Harvard’s Groundbreaking Female Astronomers

Houston, TX – February 7, 2018 – Mayde Creek High School’s UIL One Act Play competition piece is Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson.

Much in the spirit of the 2016 film Hidden Figures and based on real events, Silent Sky brings to life the work of astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, who in the early 20th Century rose high above her duties as a “computer” at Harvard and developed the techniques that led to the first discovery of galaxies beyond our own.

Silent Sky features a tight ensemble cast including Glendaliris Torres-Greaux, Samuel Oladejo, Ashley Galan, Bailye Salas, and Savannah James.

A pre-contest performance will take place at the Mayde Creek High School Performing Arts Center on March 6 at 7:00 P.M.   Tickets will be $6 and will be available in March atwww.mchstheatre.org  or may be purchased at the door.  District contest will take place March 10 at Katy High School.
