Oakbend Medical Center Hold First Advisory Board Meeting

Richmond, TX…OakBend Medical Center has established an OakBend Advisory Board in Wharton. This advisory board is comprised of a diverse group of community leaders who will provide strategic guidance and insight for our executive team and will serve as a networking and educational resource for our community.

The board’s first meeting was held today at the Wharton County Junior College. Jeff Council, President of the OakBend Board of Directors opened the meeting. There was a presentation by OakBend’s Vice President – Support Services, Tim McCarty, giving an update on the condition of the hospital, completed projects, equipment and upcoming renovations.

Donna Ferguson, VP of Physician Services spoke about Dr. Cao and Dr. Durrani that are currently seeing patients in Wharton on Thursday afternoons. She discussed the other physicians that will be coming to Wharton to take care of the patients in the hospital.

Abel Molina, Orthopedic Physician Assistant, spoke about his role and about knee and joint health.

There was an open forum for questions and answers and the meeting concluded with Wharton County Judge Phillip Spenrath closing the meeting.

The advisory board plans to meet on a monthly basis until after the opening of the hospital.
