Olson Announces Katy Student Merchant Marine Academy Appointment

SUGAR LAND, TX– Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced that Grant Corb of Katy, TX has received an appointment to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy for the fall of 2018. Corb is a senior at Seven Lakes High School and a TX-22 resident. He is a member of the Seven Lakes Varsity Baseball team and serves as a member of the Student Council. He is an A and B Honor Roll student and a member of both the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. Grant also has a passion for service, earning multiple awards for his outstanding achievement in leadership. Olson will present Corb with a proclamation congratulating him on his appointment. Corb is the first TX-22 student to receive an academy appointment this year.

Military academy appointees are evaluated for a variety of qualifications including: moral character, strong academic record, demonstrated leadership potential, physical fitness, and commitment to serve a five-year military term in the United States Armed Forces upon graduation.
