Sen. Cruz Votes to Begin Debate on FISA Reauthorization

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) issued the following statement regarding his vote today to begin debate on the reauthorization of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA):

“Today I voted to begin debate on legislation that would reauthorize a critical national security tool. The ability to intercept communications by foreign terrorists on foreign soil is a vital part of keeping this nation safe, but I very much hope the Senate next week also considers and votes on amendments that would improve the bill by strengthening civil liberties protections for American citizens.”
