Population and Survey Analysts Project Continued Growth in Katy ISD

District ranks 1st in student enrollment growth, among all Houston area school districts

December 4, 2017 – During tonight’s Katy ISD Board of Trustees meeting, Population and Survey Analysts (PASA) presented the Katy Independent School District 2017 Demographic Update and provided student enrollment projections for the upcoming years.

According to PASA, Katy ISD is expected to reach nearly 100,000 students by 2027.  Based on the current growth rate, Katy ISD has been ranked second in adding students in Texas.  During the past five years, over 13,000 new students have enrolled in Katy ISD, more than any other school district in the Greater Houston area.  By September 2017, Katy ISD ranked fourth in adding new single family housing.  While the district is currently 65% built out, PASA projects the majority of all remaining growth in Katy is expected to take place in the northwest quadrant of the district.

Katy ISD works closely with PASA to determine attendance boundary modifications needed as the district continues to grow and new schools are added.
