HOUSTON (Dec. 05, 2017) – During the holiday shopping season, stores across Houston will donate a portion of their proceeds to the American Lung Association in Texas to support lung disease research, education and advocacy.
Each night during the week of Dec. 11-16, a different store will donate a portion of its proceeds during a designated time frame to the American Lung Association. These donations will help the local Houston office provide support to the 3,559,000 Texans living with lung cancer, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other lung diseases.
“We are honored to partner with these retailers to do more for those living with lung disease and their families,” said Katie Jones, executive director of the American Lung Association in Texas – Houston. “Not being able to breathe properly disrupts your entire life, and lung disease is far too common for our families, friends and neighbors. The American Lung Association is a resource for those living with lung disease to show them that they are not alone.”
Participating stores include:
- Fly High Little Bunny (Houston Heights) – December 11, from 5-8 p.m.
- Kendra Scott (Rice Village) – December 12, from 5-8 p.m.
- Michael Kors (First Colony) – December 13, from 5-8 p.m.
- Elaine Turner (Rice Village) – December 14, from 5-8 p.m.
- Vera Bradley (First Colony) – December 15, from 5-8 p.m.
- Charming Charlie (City Center, Cypress, Brazos Town Center, Champions, Conroe, Baybrook, Katy, Pearland and The Woodlands) – December 16, from 12-6 p.m.
The American Lung Association in Texas offers programs to support those living with asthma, COPD, lung cancer and other lung diseases in addition to offering quit smoking classes. The American Lung Association will also host the Fight For Climb, a unique vertical road race up 48 floors on March 24 at 1001 Fannin Building to raise money for lung disease research and education.
