KVPAC Presents High Fidelity December 8 – 10

Katy, Texas (December 2, 2017) Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center’s (KVPAC) is completing the year with the COMPANY Senior production of High Fidelity, book by David Lindsay-Abaire with music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Amanda Green.  This audition only COMPANY Senior student production features young actors from ages 13 – 18.  Based primarily on the Nick Hornby novel of the same name, the plot focuses on Rob Gordon, a Brooklyn record shop owner in his thirties obsessed with making top five lists for everything, always observing rather than participating in life. When his girlfriend Laura leaves him, he goes through a painful re-evaluation of his life and lost loves (with a little help from his music) and he slowly learns that he must grow up and let go of his self-centered view of the world before he can find real happiness.

This KVPAC Production of High Fidelity is a charming tale about Rob after he is unexpectedly dumped, his life takes a music-filled turn toward the introspective. Follow Rob as he struggles to discover how his relationship went awry, and strives to change his life to win back his sweetheart Laura. With memorable characters and a rock-and-roll score, this homage to music geek culture explores love, heartbreak, and the power of the perfect soundtrack. This entertaining musical will delight actors and audiences alike.  Directed and choreographed by Mark Jackson with musical direction and accompanist Alejandro Miramontes, High Fidelity’s charms are considerable and don’t be surprised if you fall under its spell.

Show times are Friday December 8 at 7:00pm, Saturday December 9 at 7:00pm and Sunday December 10 at 2:00pm.  Tickets are available online at www.KVPAC.org until noon on Friday and then can be purchased at the box office one hour before each performance.  All shows are performed at Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center, located at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center Complex at 2501 S Mason Rd, Ste. 290, in Katy.
