WHAT: 12th Annual Winter Holiday Art Market (WHAM) & “Ugly Sweater” Preview Party
Fresh Arts will host its 12th Annual Winter Holiday Art Market, a weekend art sale and celebration of Houston’s talented and diverse arts community. The weekend long market kicks-off with a ticketed “Ugly Sweater” preview party and happy hour on Friday, November 17, followed by the public market on Saturday (Nov. 18) and Sunday (Nov.19) at Winter Street Studios on the Sawyer Yards campus.
A Houston tradition, WHAM brings together the city’s small businesses, local artists and people of all ages to kick-off the holiday season. It is Houston’s largest curated art markets offering a unique blend of fine art and handmade crafts from over sixty-five local artists of all types; including, paintings, sculptures, photography, jewelry, textiles, clothing and much more. With artist demonstrations, live music, complimentary beverages, and food for sale by local vendors, WHAM is not just a market, it’s a celebration of Houston’s art community.
In light of the devastation caused by Harvey, this year’s WHAM takes on an additional element of importance. As many of the participating WHAM artists were indirectly or directly affected by the storm, the market provides the community and visitors to Houston the opportunity to support these artists and artisans during the holiday season.
