The Fire Fighters Foundation Of Houston To Host Annual Fundraiser In Wake Of Hurricane Harvey

Money raised will help offset the cost of new, lifesaving equipment for the Houston Fire Department

HOUSTON (November 6 2017) – The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston (FFFH) will host its annual fundraiser, themed “Keeping Houston Strong” on Monday, November 13 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at 51fifteen  located on the 2ndFloor of Saks Fifth Avenue in The Galleria at 5175 Westheimer Rd. in Houston. This annual event raises money to offset the cost of new, lifesaving equipment that Houston fire fighters use while engaged in rescue calls.

Now more than ever, having endured what some experts are calling the worst flood and one of the most powerful storms in United States history, the needs of Houston’s fire department are better understood.

“Founded in 2006 to help meet the needs of Houston’s first responders, The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston has worked with leading Houston businesses to help raise money for essential equipment that is not budgeted for,” said Lee Vela, chairman of The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston. “Hurricane Harvey made very clear to everyone in our city of the vital role that our first responders play in a natural disaster situation – and that having the appropriate equipment can mean the difference between life and death. We hope to raise enough money at this fundraiser to help offset the cost of items that are desperately needed by our first responders.”

Last year’s event funded the purchase of equipment for the Houston Fire Department.  This year the need is underscored by recent weather events and the Foundation seeks to raise funds to purchase more recuse boats among other rescue items.  Tickets to attend the event are $75.

Attendees also have the chance to bid on silent auction items, like staycation packages or sporting event tickets, as well as the featured items during the live auction.

“Everybody who lives in Houston knows what a tremendous job our first responders did during the hurricane – we owe it to them to make sure that they are using equipment that helps improve their safety while trying to protect us and helps them to do their job more efficiently and effectively,” said Vela.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for local businesses interested in supporting this fundraising event – and The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston – and range from $2,500 to $30,000.

Sponsors of the event include: AT&T, Civic Theater Group, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, Cigna, Clear Channel, Linebarger Goggan Blair and Sampson, LLP, Landmark Houston Hospitality Group, Silver Eagle, iHeart Media, Bobby & Jasmeeta Singh, STA Architects, TPMC Reality, Express Digital, and United Airlines.
