Board of Trustee George Scott is Reelected to the TASB Board of Directors

November 6, 2017 – Katy ISD Board of Trustee George Scott has been reelected to a two-year term on the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors, representing Region 4, Position E.

Scott was elected to the Katy ISD Board of Trustees in May 2016.  He was the publisher of The Katy Times newspaper from 1983-86 before becoming a senior researcher and then president of the Tax Research Association of Houston and Harris County.  Scott also served on the executive committee of the Harris County Appraisal District, where he performed both internal and external media functions, as well as special projects.

During his tenure in local media, Scott worked directly with hundreds of civic and service organizations and individuals to help publicize their positive work for the community, and he volunteered in various activities including the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, youth sports leagues, among other activities.

TASB is a nonprofit association established in 1949 to serve local public school boards.  School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state.  The districts they represent serve more than 5.3 million students.
