Oakbend Medical Center’s “Patchwork Of Life, Making Room To Heal” Raises Funds For Hospital’s 4th And 5th Floor Renovations

Richmond, TX… OakBend Medical Center held its 5th Annual Patchwork of Life event on Thursday, October 12th at Safari Texas.  The honorees of this year’s event were the hospital’s nurses.

“Patchwork of Life, Making Room to Heal”, was chaired by Tama Dorman and Olga Gracia and the monies from this year’s fundraiser will be used for the remodeling of the 4th and 5th floors OakBend’s Jackson Street.

For the past five years, the Patchwork of Life event has been used to raise much needed funds for a variety of areas in the hospital.  From building the Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to the Senior Behavioral Health Unit and the Emergency Department at Jackson Street funds are raised through sponsorships, the sale of quilt squares, raffle sales, donations and live auction.

Once again, this year’s event had over 700 attendees.  The live auction raised $75,400 and the total amount raised for Patchwork was more than $350,000 for the 4th and 5th floor patient room renovations. However, this year, the Madison Charitable Foundation had a matching grant program for up to $500,000 making the total proceeds from this event equal to more than $700,000.

“Our community is amazing,” stated Joe Freudenberger, CEO of OakBend Medical Center, “We are grateful for the generosity and support that they provide each year. Our event has continued to grow and we are appreciative of the loyalty shown by our community leaders, friends, family, staff and vendors as they continue to support OakBend Medical Center.”
