Create Holiday Greeting Cards With Fiber Art And Needle-Felting At Library Program

To kick off the holiday season, Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library will have a special fiber-art craft demonstration, “Holiday Cards Using Fiber Techniques,” on Monday, November 13, beginning at 6:00 p.m., in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear.

Learn more about working with felt – one of the oldest textiles in the world – to create beautiful, personalized greeting cards. Betsy Mudra, fiber artist and owner of Felting by Betsy, will demonstrate how to use special needles as a sculpting tool to manipulate the fibers of the cloth into pieces of art. Those attending the program will learn about the history of felting and receive hands-on instruction on how to felt, using wool, felting needles, fibers, and embellishments to create greeting cards for the any occasion.

Mudra is a retired educator from Fort Bend ISD. She has been working with fibers for seven years, and has taught and demonstrated the art to both children and adults.

Materials for the demonstration are made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library. Proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sales and annual membership dues help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at the library.

The program is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required.
