15th Annual Race to be Held on Thanksgiving Day
KATY – The YMCA is currently accepting sponsorships for the 15th Annual Turkey Dash, one of the largest fun runs in the Greater Houston area. Jointly organized by the Katy Area YMCAs and The Fellowship, the Thanksgiving morning race is presented by Reliant, an NRG company. Returning lead sponsors include Grand Vision, Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus, United Healthcare, British International School of Houston and BHP. Event proceeds benefit the YMCA Annual Campaign, and provide program scholarships as youth sports, swim lessons and after school care.
More than 6,000 participants and 1,500 spectators and volunteers are expected to attend this year. Race options include a 10K, 5K, 1 Mile Kids run and a 1 Mile Walk/Run. A costume contest will also be held.
“The Turkey Dash is an event where families get together and celebrate a holiday while creating new memories. This is especially important this year, in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, which displaced so many families,” said Greg Coop, District Vice President of the YMCA. “A successful event is only possible because of the support of our local community, committed volunteers and local businesses.”
