Olson Applauds House Passage Of Pearland Officer Postal Bill

Washington, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today applauded his House colleagues for joining him to honor fallen Pearland police officer Endy Nddiobong Ekpanya by naming a Post Office in his honor. Officer Ekpanya was killed by a drunk driver on June 16, 2016, just two days short of his 31st birthday, while responding to a non-emergency call. He was the first officer in Pearland to die in the line of duty in over 40 years. The bill passed with unanimous House support by a voice vote.

“Every day our police officers selflessly risk their lives to protect and serve our communities,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “Dedicating this post office to Officer Ekpanya is a small gesture to thank him for his unwavering courage and service to the Pearland community. Every time a resident comes to this Post Office, they will see Officer Ekpanya’s name and remember his service and sacrifice.”

H.R. 294, the Endy Ekpanya Post Office Building Act will designate the U. S. Post Office located at 2700 Cullen Boulevard in Pearland, Texas, the “Endy Ekpanya Post Office Building.” The next step is Senate passage of the bill.
