The Katy Independent School District has reinstated former Taylor High School football coach Trey Herrmann following a week-long period of paid administrative leave.
KISD had placed Herrmann on leave August 18 but said it is unrelated to Herrmann’s role with students. KISD said additional information on Herrmann’s situation cannot be provided because it is a personnel matter.
Herrmann is now coaching football and teaching physical education at Seven Lakes Junior High School. Should circumstances warrant, a KISD spokesperson said Herrmann might coach other sports there in the future.
The district appointed Joe Sheffy, who was an assistant coach at Taylor and previously the head coach at Mayde Creek High School, as head coach this season. The Mustangs won their first game under Sheffy last week.
Taylor’s next football game is 6 p.m. Saturday against Katy at Legacy Stadium.
