Lyft and American Red Cross Raise $25620 for Disaster Relief To “Lyft Up Our Neighbors in Need” at Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival

All Proceeds to Benefit Those Affected by Disasters Big and Small

Nashville, TN (September 25, 2017– This weekend, rideshare company Lyft partnered with American Red Cross to “Lyft Up Our Neighbors in Need” and support Red Cross Disaster Relief at the third annual Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival in Franklin, TN. Together, a $25,620 donation was made to Red Cross Disaster Relief with the help of Lyft who matched all donations, dollar for dollar.

Festival attendees had the chance to make donations at Lyft tents located throughout the festival grounds, as well as online at www.PayPal.com/LyftUp. Those who donated were given a custom pink light-up bracelet, complementing Lyft’s namesake color, to “light up the sky” throughout the weekend. Red Cross Disaster Relief helps people affected by disasters like storms and countless other crises. These gifts enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small.

“We’re honored to come together with the American Red Cross and Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival to bring relief to our neighbors who need it most,” said Sam Nadler, Lyft Nashville General Manager. “We can always count on the Nashville community to spread its generosity which proved to be true after this weekend.”

In addition to matching all donations made at the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival, Lyft also partnered with American Red Cross to allow passengers to round up and donate their fares during the month of September, which has raised over $150,000 for Red Cross since the launch of the campaign. Additionally, Lyft co-founders are also donating all of their earnings from driving to the American Red Cross and after Hurricane Harvey made landfall, Lyft continued the charitable giving by donating $100,000 to the Greater Houston Community Foundation’s Hurricane Relief Fund. Lyft and American Red Cross continue to raise awareness and funds for victims of disasters, providing light in the darkest situations.

Through this partnership and the generous donations from festival attendees, funds will go towards all disaster relief efforts including overnight shelter stays, distribution of emergency supplies, health & mental health contacts, meals & snacks, workers on the ground, emergency response vehicles and more. By giving to American Red Cross Disaster Relief, donors help families re-build their lives and move forward after disaster strikes.

“Already busy responding to the historic devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the American Red Cross continues to respond to storms and countless other crises to help people in need,” said Don Herring, chief development officer at the American Red Cross. “The generous support of Lyft and the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival, along with the general public, enables the Red Cross to prepare for and respond to disasters big and small—providing immediate emergency relief and helping get people on the road to recovery.”
