The American Red Cross team members continue to work around the clock to bring food, shelter, comfort and recovery assistance to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Hurricane Harvey Fast Facts
- Overnight, more than 4,000 people stayed in 22Red Cross and partner shelters across Texas. To date, there have been nearly 397,000overnight shelter stays provided for Hurricane Harvey.
- Along with our partners, we have served more than2.3 million meals and snacks in Texas and Louisiana.
- Almost3,500 Red Cross disaster workers are on the ground in Texas and Louisiana, with more than 270 on the way.
- As many as 170emergency response vehicles have been activated to help deliver meals and relief supplies across the hardest hit areas of Texas and Louisiana.
- Mental health and health services professionals have provided more than 79,000contacts to provide support and care to people inTexas and Louisiana.
- We’ve distributed more than 705,000relief items like diapers, bug spray, cleaning supplies, coolers, and comfort kits containing deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and other hygiene items, in Texas and Louisiana.
- The Red Cross has already distributed $45 millionin financial assistance to more than 100,000 qualified households who needed immediate help. This assistance has helped more than 365,000 people including more than 10,000 households headed by military veterans.
Financial Assistance Program
On September 21, the Red Cross plans to launch a single website where severely impacted households from 39 Texas counties can apply for $400. We expect the website to have sufficient capacity to handle all registrations; applications will not be accepted through any other website or phone number. Registration will remain open until October 10.
