Olson Applauds Committee Action On Pearland Officer Post Office Bill

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced that a House Committee has acted to move his bill to name a Pearland post office after fallen police officer Endy Nddiobong Ekpanya. Officer Ekpanya was killed by a drunk driver on June 16, 2016, just two days short of his 31stbirthday, while responding to a non-emergency call. He was the first officer in Pearland to die in the line of duty in over 40 years.

“Every day our police officers selflessly risk their lives to protect and serve our communities,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “Dedicating this post office to Officer Ekpanya is a small gesture to thank him for his unwavering courage and service to the Pearland community. His sacrifice should never be forgotten. On behalf of a grateful community, we will never forget his service and sacrifice.”

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held a markup on his bill, H.R. 294, the Endy Ekpanya Post Office Building Act. This legislation will designate the U. S. Post Office located at 2700 Cullen Boulevard in Pearland, Texas, the “Endy Ekpanya Post Office Building.” The next step is House passage of the bill.
