COLLEGE STATION, Sept. 12, 2017 – Texas A&M University is ranked No. 4 in the Best Value category among national public universities – the highest ranking of any Texas school – and is now ranked No. 25 overall among public universities, improving from No. 27 last year in the 2018 U.S. News and World Report Best College Rankings released today.
Texas A&M is ranked No. 69 among all public and private universities this year in the U.S. News rankings, besting last year’s No. 74 ranking.
In the Best Value ranking, Texas A&M was beaten out only by the University of North Carolina (1), University of Virginia (2) and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (3). Texas A&M remains in the top third of the nation’s 200-plus top-tier institutions as tabulated by the magazine.
The 2018 U.S. News & World Report rankings were posted online today (Sept. 12).
Texas A&M President Michael K. Young says the university has made great strides in academics over the past few years and believes even more success will be achieved in years to come.
“We are pleased to continue to increase in rankings as announced by U.S. News & World Report and other recent publications. Our overarching goal is to create the best possible programs for our students — graduate and undergraduate – to prepare them in roles of leadership and service to their communities and the world,” Young says.
“That our graduates are in high demand in the job market is also a great testament to our outstanding faculty and staff.”
“Texas A&M University is one of the best values in American higher education,” John Sharp, chancellor of The Texas A&M University System, says. “I am gratified that these national rankings recognize the value of an Aggie education. We will continue to be smart with our spending and will continue to look for ways to make sure Texas A&M remains an affordable option.”
Recently, Texas A&M University has been ranked No. 4 – the only institution in Texas among the Top 20 – in Washington Monthly’s rankings of the best universities in the country. Texas A&M ranked the highest of any public university in the nation in the magazine’s rankings.
Texas A&M also ranks No. 8 nationally in a Money magazine study titled Best Colleges For Big Paychecks, showing Texas A&M graduates are among the nation’s earning leaders soon after they enter the job market.
