Levy Park Conservancy to Receive Five Percent of Proceeds from Community Giving Day at Whole Foods Market on Kirby Drive

HOUSTON, (September 11, 2017) – The Levy Park Conservancy has been designated as a recipient of Whole Foods Market’s Community Giving Day to be held on Sept. 20 at the Upper Kirby location, 2955 Kirby Dr. This means five percent of the store’s net income that day will be donated to the Levy Park Conservancy (LPC), which operates and manages Levy Park at 3801 Eastside St.

“We are thrilled that Whole Foods Market in Upper Kirby has chosen the Levy Park Conservancy to receive this generous donation during Community Giving Day,” says Lindsey Carey, LPC’s Programming Coordinator. “It’s our hope that many Houstonians will choose to shop at this particular Whole Foods store on Wednesday, Sept. 20 in support of such a great cause. Levy Park is a six-acre urban green space with a host of programming and activities for people of all ages and interests.”

Community Giving Day is a designated day during which Whole Foods Market stores give five percent of their day’s net sales to a local nonprofit. It hosts four Community Giving Days per year. To qualify as a Community Partner, the organization must be a 501c3 nonprofit that aligns with the company’s core values and with whom it wants to build an ongoing, mutually beneficial relationship.

Levy Park Conservancy will staff tables on the patio at the store from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 20 with Levy Park handouts and will answer questions about the Park and the Conservancy. Whole Foods Market in Upper Kirby has been in business since 1984, and like all Whole Foods Market stores, is committed to selling the highest quality natural and organic products available.
