Hotel Taxes Suspension Extended

Governor Greg Abbott has extended the suspension of collecting all state and local hotel occupancy taxes from the victims of Hurricane Harvey or personnel participating in hurricane relief efforts.

The tax suspension began Aug. 23, 2017, and has been extended through Sept. 22, 2017.

To certify they qualify, victims and relief workers should complete a Form 12-302, Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax Exemption Certificate, check the “Exempt by Other Federal or State Law” box, write “Hurricane Harvey” anywhere on the form and submit it to the hotel at check-in or during their stay.
