Olson Acts On Downpayment To Texas For Harvey Relief

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) today acted on a down payment to make the communities in Texas devastated by Hurricane Harvey whole by voting for H. Res. 502, a disaster supplemental appropriations bill. The legislation provides $7.85 billion in emergency funding, as requested by the Administration, for the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) and the Small Business Administration (SBA) to fund the initial response and recovery efforts following Hurricane Harvey. The bill passed the House by a vote of 419-3.

“Texas has been hit hard, but we are strong,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “We will get through this. I thank our fellow Americans from across the country who have come in droves to lend a hand to strangers with boats, blankets and bottled water. We still have a long way to go. This aid is the first step in this process of making our state and our communities whole again. Harvey was an epic storm that will require epic resources. I want to thank my colleagues for their support on behalf of Texas and thank you to our friends across America.”
