“The Demon at Horseshoe Lake” By Paul Middlebrooks

Paul Middlebrooks unleashes ‘The Demon at Horseshoe Lake’

Mysterious, heartfelt, yet vicious novel aims to take readers down twisted road of unknown

FLINTSTONE, Ga. – Author Paul Middlebrooks has always been a dreamer. His imagination wanders best while working and fishing. While working, he was able to capture an appealing idea that inspired him to write his literary work, “The Demon at Horseshoe Lake” (published by AuthorHouse). He describes his book mysterious, heartfelt but very vicious.

The story is about two little old women and a secret that they kept all to themselves for almost 80 years, in a city called Rossville. Some unknown “beings” took up shelter on their property and lived under the lake. They grew from a small tiny bug eater that made a small funnel-shaped hole in the ground. Growing into something, so vicious, so grotesque, so devouring, they have the strength to knock a locomotive from its tracks. A man eater, no one is safe in their path. They were so elusive for so many years and so many lives had already been taken. These unknown creatures came from a place where “God only knows.”

“People loves to read, be mesmerized, and the unexpected.” Teasing their imagination, Middlebrooks takes readers down a twisted road of the unknown.

An excerpt from the book:

After a few minutes, May lifted her head and looked at us with her eyes filled with tears. She said, for so many years I have watched them grow, and I would feed them and sing to them, and talk to them. They never hurt me. She said, it’s like they were my pets.
