Houston, TX – The Abramson family has figured it out. Like any parent, Brian and Lori Abramson want their children to make healthy choices, give back to their community and put family first. They get to demonstrate all three values by particpaitng together in the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston Oy Vey! 5K family fun-run event Sunday, Septemeber 17, 2017 at Godwin Park in the heart of Meyerland. Proceeds from the event will support the J Meals on Wheels.

“This is not only a great opportunity for us to participate and be active as a family, but it also provides us a way to help provide for those in need,” said Brian Abramson. “It’s great that the J focuses on families and brings opportunities like this to our community. We hope lots of other families in Greater Meyeralnd will join us.”

The Oy Vey! 5K is a community event that will include a 5k family run along with a 1k run for kids beginning and ending at Godwin Park located at 5101 Rutherglenn Drive. It’s just one way the J encourages health and wellness as well as community fellowship.

“We’re so excited to partner with Godwin Park to bring this unique event to the Meyerland community,” said Robin Fortenberry, Director of Fitness Services at the J. “We understand that families want to be active together and give back to the community while also raising money for such a worthy cause.”

engaging our community about J Meals on Wheels. It’s the only program in the Houston area to provide kosher meals to homebound seniors. Individuals who are age 60 years or older, incapacitated or disabled and who are limited in meal preparation may be eligible to participate in the home-delivered meals program. Recipients are often nutritionally at-risk adults who may be disabled, living alone or low-income earners. Proceeds from the event will go directly to help alleviate a waiting list.

There will also be a post-race celebration with food, vendors and entertainment. Parking and shuttle service will be available at the J.  Secure a spot for your family and register today by visiting www.erjcchouston.org/oyvey5k.
