TYLER, Texas – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Friday toured and visited with employees at the Skeeter Boats, Inc. In Tyler, Sen. Cruz toured the Rogers Nursing and Health Sciences Center at Tyler Junior College (TJC), and participated in a forum with TJC students. Afterward, Sen. Cruz visited Brookshire’s Grocery Company, and held an employee town hall.

“U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz stopped in East Texas on Friday, pledging to make good on the Republicans’ promise to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Speaking to a group of employees of Brookshire Grocery Company, Cruz acknowledged that Senate Republicans failed in their effort last week to pass a bill to repeal the ACA, also known as Obamacare. ‘I believe we’ll get it done,’ Cruz said. ‘We’ll get it done by making the central issue lowering premiums. How will we do that? Basic economics. We’ll offer more choices.’”

“Overall, Cruz concluded, there are four key priorities for Congress and President Donald Trump right now: repealing Obamacare, tax reform, regulatory reform and keeping Constitutionally-minded justices on the Supreme Court and the federal benches. ‘If we deliver on those four – that’s a big, big deal – this could be the most productive Congress in decades. If we fail on those four, this could be the most heartbreaking missed opportunity we’ve seen in a long time.’ When it comes to tax reform, Cruz added, he’s optimistic. ‘What I’m spending my time doing right now is bringing together Republicans. Cruz was set to tour and visit with employees at Skeeter Boats Inc. in Kilgore, participate in a roundtable at Tyler Junior College and visit Brookshire’s Grocery Company. While in Kilgore, Cruz told several media present that lawmakers needed to pull together to pass a health care bill. ‘Let’s deliver on repealing Obama care. Let’s deliver on tax cuts, on lifting regulations, on expanding jobs and economic growth,’ Cruz said. ‘We’re gonna do what we promised.’”
