All 4 Katy Launched to Support and Promote the Passage of the Katy ISD Bond Referendum

All 4 Katy Launched To Support And Promote The Passage Of The Katy ISD Bond Referendum, Anticipated To Be Placed On The November Ballot By The Board Of Trustees On August 21, 2017.

Katy, Texas, August 7, 2017  –  All 4 Katy is pleased to announce its launch as a Specific Purpose Political Action Committee (“PAC”) supporting the growth of Katy Independent School District and the financing of the construction of six new schools (one High School, two Junior High Schools and three Elementary Schools), and a large number of other critically needed improvements.  Katy Independent School District is one of the fastest growing school districts in the State of Texas, and in order to provide sufficient classroom space for all the new students being enrolled in the district, the PAC is advocating for the passage of the proposed Bond Referendum.

The District has confirmed that passage of a Bond in the recommended amount will not increase the school tax rate. Accordingly, the Bond package recommended by the Bond Advisory Committee can be implemented without any change in existing school taxes.  Although demand for Katy real estate and increases in property values is likely to cause increases in overall tax bills in some portions of the District, the proposed Bond will not have any additional impact on property tax rates.

The District projects that the growth in student population is in the vicinity of 2,800 students annually and as of last count 2,700 new students are enrolled in KISD schools for the 2017 school year.  KISD statistics currently show that within the Southwest quadrant of KISD, 15 of the 18 schools are populated with students in excess of their design capacity (“overcrowding”).  Three of the new schools (a High School, a Junior High School and an Elementary School) are targeted to be built in the Southwest quadrant of the district thereby alleviating the increasing overcrowding at all levels in that area.  The remaining three new schools (two Elementary Schools and one Junior High School) are being targeted for the Northwest quadrant of KISD where new home construction is exploding.

The remainder of the projects financed by the Bond include (above and beyond the six new schools) badly needed renovations and additions to existing campuses in all four quadrants of Katy ISD, technology and safety improvements across the District, new busses and maintenance facilities.  Details of the package can be seen at the KISD website at: http://www.katyisd.org/sites/bonds/pages/default.aspx
