Jilene Scherbenske announces release of ‘Deepening Your Marriage’

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – One time, author Jilene Scherbenske led a Bible study for newly saved women and discovered that each lady was in a troubled marriage. As a means of helping people with their marriages, Scherbenske pens “Deepening Your Marriage: Applying Marriage to the Truths of I Corinthians 13” (published by WestBow Press), a helpful guide in making marriages successful and fulfilling.

“I believe every marriage needs work. Troubled marriages for sure need work, but so do great marriages if they are to remain fresh and lovely. This book helps ladies take and apply the qualities of Christ-likeness to their marriage,” the author says.

Scherbenske wants marriages to improve, no matter how good or bad the relationships are right now. She wants to draw the reader closer to God, into a more intimate relationship with him as they obey the truths of the book.

A particular passage from the book:

Whether it be in your marriage or in another area, these verses are so key. You must cast down your wrong thoughts, thoughts that come only from your selfishness or from satan himself. Casting down comes from a Greek word which has the idea of violently demolishing. That’s what you are to do with your wrong thoughts! You are to demolish your imaginations and any thought that exalts itself above God’s knowledge. Any time you hold onto your own selfish thinking or any other wrong thinking, you have then lifted your thoughts above God’s. You think you are right; therefore God must be wrong.  How foolish!
