Cornyn on Fox: Repeal Obamacare or Accept Status Quo

‘In the end, the choice is Obamacare and the status quo, or something better. We think that we’ve got a better product, something that will bring down costs, make it more accessible. That’s why we need to vote.’

WASHINGTON – Today U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) appeared on Fox News’ Your World with Neil Cavuto to discuss the Senate Republican plan to replace Obamacare.  Excerpts from his appearance are below, and video can be found here.

“What we have proposed is something called the Better Care Act to try to stabilize markets, to bring down premium costs, to protect people with pre-existing conditions, and then also to put Medicaid on a sustainable growth path.”

“We have listened and made some modifications in the bill that will be made public here shortly. And then we’re going to have to have a vote. What our Democratic friends are hoping is that we’re unsuccessful and then what they will be advocating is a huge multi-million dollar bailout for insurance companies with no reform. And that’s certainly not something I can support.”

“In the end, the choice is Obamacare and the status quo, or something better. We think that we’ve got a better product, something that will bring down costs, make it more accessible. That’s why we need to vote.”

Senator John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, is a member of the Senate Finance, Intelligence, and Judiciary Committees.
