America: Home of the Beautiful, the Brave & the Free Independence Day Parade

(June 19, 2017) – The small community of Chappell Hill is gearing up for one of the “biggest small town parades” in Texas this July 4th as they host their 41st Annual Independence Day Parade at 10AM in downtown Chappell Hill.  “Chappell Hill loves to showcase our patriotism and we are looking forward to celebrating Independence Day with this year’s theme “America: Home of the Beautiful, the Brave and the Free,” stated Joel Romo, 2017 Parade Chair.

“We have visitors from throughout Texas and the country that come to take part in our pa rade and our newest attraction, the Cool Rods Car Show which takes place immediately following the parade has also become a major attraction.  State Representative Leighton Schubert (R-Caldwell) will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal.  Schubert is currently in his second term in the Texas House of Representatives and we are honored he has chosen to celebrate Independence Day with the community of Chappell Hill.  The Patriot Guard and the Washington County EMS Honor Guard will assist with opening ceremonies and of course, the World Famous Marching Kazoo Band will be making an appearance and any child wanting to join the kazoo band is welcomed,” stated Romo.

“The Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce invites all area veterans to ride in our designated Veterans Floats sponsored by Chappell Hill Bank and Brenham National Bank, they will be stationed at the corner of Poplar & Main Street.  Award winning singer-songwriter Gary Durrenberger will perform from 9AM to 10AM and then again during the Cool Rods Car Show immediately following the parade.  Thanks to our sponsors the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce is able to offer over $750.00 in parade entry prizes and over $500.00 in Cool Rods Car Show prizes.  The Flava Trailer will be selling food, refreshments and snow cones throughout the event and there will be free choo-choo train rides available for kids,” said Romo.

Anyone wanting to enter the parade, Cool Rods Car Show or register their child for the Marching Kazoo Band can visit www.chappellhilltx.com or call 979-421-6353 for additional information.  There will be two free parking lots available this year, one off of FM 2447 and one off of FM 1155 by the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
