Flag ceremonies set by American Legion Post 164 and Katy Elks Lodge

Jonathan D. Rozier Post 164 of The American Legion and the Katy Elks will conduct flag ceremonies at the Elks Lodge beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 11.

The Elks will lead off with a Flag Day ceremony indoors at 1050 Katy Fort Bend Road.  It will include a processional display of flags and a recitation of their individual roles at certain points in U.S. history.

After the Elks ceremony and behind the lodge building, Post 164 will lead an outdoor flag retirement ceremony with the burning of faded flags collected from the public.  The dignified disposal of unserviceable flags in barrels is overseen by fire department representatives.

The public is invited.
