Cinco Ranch Branch Library Hosts Summer Family Movie Series

The Youth Services department at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library will feature “Family Movie Day” — a free movie series for families with kids of all ages — in June. The movies will begin at 1:30 p.m., in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy.

The movie series will begin on Friday, June 16, with an Oscar-nominated, animated adventure film about an impetuous young Polynesian girl who strikes out on an epic journey across the Pacific Ocean. She must persuade the demigod Maui to return the heart of goddess Te Fiti, so that a blight can be lifted from the girl’s island. This story is based on stories from Polynesian mythology. This movie is rated PG.

The series continues on Friday, June 30. In this 2016 animated comedy, a friendly but forgetful blue tang fish goes in search of her long-lost parents with the help of a young clown fish and his dad. Her journey brings her to the Marine Life Institute, a conservatory that houses diverse ocean species. Will she be able to rescue her parents from captivity and finally find a place to call home? This movie is rated PG.

The movies are free and open to the public. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. The library is unable to accommodate school groups or daycares at these activities.

The libraries’ licensing agreement for public showing of films prohibits them from releasing the name of the movie outside of the library.
