Katy Resident Austin Snowden Named Winds Product Specialist at Yamaha Corporation of America

Austin Snowden of Katy, Texas has been named the new winds product specialist of the Band & Orchestral division at Yamaha Corporation of America, the world’s largest musical instrument manufacturer.

Snowden joined Yamaha in May 2016 as the wind instruments department marketing intern after earning his Bachelor of Music degree with a marketing minor from the University of Houston. He also graduated from the University’s Moores School of Music, Bauer College of Business and the Honors College, magna cum laude with University honors. As a student, Snowden took part in special honors projects and research in chamber music, jazz history and jazz transcriptions. He focused on classical saxophone works including solo, duet and quartet performances of both well-known standards and new works.

“Austin demonstrated great initiative and commitment during his internship and I am happy to welcome him back as product specialist,” said Brian Petterson, wind instrument marketing manager, Yamaha Band & Orchestral division. “Austin is a great example of how college grads can succeed at Yamaha through structured mentorship and an individual commitment to excellence.”

The Yamaha Band & Orchestral division is responsible for marketing, sales, and research and development for strings, wind instruments, and concert and marching percussion. In addition, it focuses attention on education initiatives for school music programs throughout the United States.
