Houston Symphony Celebrates 55 Years Of James Bond Films With Program Of Franchise’s Most Iconic Songs

In celebration of the film franchise that has spanned more than half a century, the Houston Symphony will present the best of James Bond music with Bond & Beyond at 8 p.m. April 28-29 and 7:30 p.m. April 30 at Jones Hall.

In his second-to-last concert as Principal POPS Conductor, Michael Krajewski will lead the orchestra and Tony Award-winning vocalist Debbie Gravitte in familiar song favorites from the successful films, including Goldfinger, From Russia with Love, Diamonds are Forever, Casino Royale and Skyfall. The program was originally conceived by Krajewski and has been performed with orchestras all over the country.

The Bond films center on the fictional spy character created in 1953 by novelist Ian Fleming. Bond is a British secret agent, also known by the codename 007, and has been portrayed by six actors in 24 films. This year marks significant anniversaries of five of those films: You Only Live Twice (50 years), The Spy Who Loved Me (40 years), The Living Daylights (30 years), and Tomorrow Never Dies (20 years).

The concert will take place at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, 615 Louisiana Street, in Houston’s Theater District. An additional performance will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 27 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. For tickets and information, please call (713) 224-7575 or visit www.houstonsymphony.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the Houston Symphony Patron Services Center in Jones Hall (Monday–Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). All programs and artists are subject to change.
