Cornyn on MSNBC: Gorsuch ‘a Real Test’ for Democrats

‘If Neil Gorsuch isn’t good enough for you, there probably never will be anyone good enough for my Democratic colleagues to allow an up-or-down vote.’

WASHINGTON – Following day two of Judge Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation hearing to fill the Supreme Court vacancy, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) appeared on MSNBC’s For the Record with Greta Van Susteren to discuss the hearing. Excerpts from his appearance are below, and video of his remarks can be found here.

“There is a lot of pressure on our Democratic colleagues because if Neil Gorsuch isn’t good enough for you, there probably never will be anyone good enough for my Democratic colleagues to allow an up-or-down vote. So this is a real test for them. And I know they’re having a lot of internal conflict. But my hope is that ultimately they will decide to at least give us an up or down vote on this judge. You really can’t do any better than Neil Gorsuch.”

“It’s hard to find anything to criticize Judge Gorsuch about in terms of his record, his demeanor, his temperament, and his qualifications.”

Senator John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, is a member of the Senate Finance, Intelligence, and Judiciary Committees.
