“The Adventures of Glow” By Nakisha Wilson

New children’s book about glowing caterpillar teaches children to appreciate differences

Nakisha Wilson announces release of her debut book, ‘The Adventures of Glow’

CORDOVA, Tenn. — Nakisha Wilson’s “The Adventures of Glow” (published by Balboa Press) tells the whimsical story of a glowing caterpillar named Glow who goes through multiple phases of life before realizing her true purpose.

All Glow wants to do is find a way back home after a heavy rainstorm set her off her path. Along her journey, she meets different bugs whom she tries to identify with – to no avail. Glow soon realizes that she needs to look within herself, not others, to discover her authentic self.

“The book emphasizes that it’s ok to be different and embrace your differences,” says Wilson. Touching upon social issues regarding self-identity and individual uniqueness, Wilson says there is no better time for a book like “The Adventures of Glow.”

An excerpt from “The Adventures of Glow”:

As she is flying in all of her radiant splendor, Glow looks down and notices other lost butterflies joining in her adventure. They all have been waiting for her to show up. The butterflies recognize that Glow is special. She is responsible for helping them navigate through the night and rejoin their village. It is only by Glows’ perfect journey that she is able to emit a light so strong that others can see.
