Fixing the Texas Appraisal Process

The HPRA lunch speaker this Friday is Bernardo Garcia, a lawyer with many years’ experience as an assistant county attorney who has worked with several local governments, including a stint as Director of Litigation services for the Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD). Mr. Garcia will discuss reform bills the legislature will consider this session, his thoughts on how to reform the current tax protest process, and the system of centralized appraisal districts, with abolishment as one option.
