Author to Speak to German Society

Author Dan Worrall to speak at Katy Tri-County Chapter of the Texas German Society. Mr. Worrall is to speak about his new book Pleasant Bend: Upper Buffalo Bayou and the San Felipe Trail in the Nineteenth Century.
“The book concentrates on the history of a wide strip of land on both sides of the Buffalo Bayou from downtown Houston out to eastern Katy in the nineteenth century – including that of the early settlers of Piney Point and Wheaton’s Ford along the old San Felipe Trail, the German pioneers and their settlements at Spring Branch, Bear Creek and White Oak; the Morses and their Pleasant Bend plantation; the African American migration following the Civil War, the Chisholm Trail cattle drives emanating from the bayou area during Reconstruction, and many other stories.”
