Chamber Honors Local Law Enforcement at the January Breakfast in the Bend

In honor of local Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, John D. Norsworthy, Sr., with the Behind the Badge Charities spoke to over 80 members of the Central Fort Bend Chamber at the OakBend Medical Center in Richmond, TX.

Behind the Badge Charities originated in January 2011 due to the line of duty death of Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, Jon “J.D.” Norsworthy.  The primary focus of Behind the Badge is to provide assistance to first responders (peace officers, fire fighters, local correction officers, 9-1-1 emergency communications professionals, probation officers, and emergency medical technicians) in Fort Bend County who suffer from injuries, illness and/or death.  Mr. Norsworthy shared that “the Charity has assisted approximately 80 families and also offers scholarships to current or honorable retired peace officer family members, who have recently graduated high school or are currently attending college”.  Details about the upcoming Boots and Badges Gala being held at George Ranch on February 11, 2017 were also mentioned to the group.  “The Gala serves as a capital fundraiser for the Behind the Badge Organization helping raise money for those who help us”.  John concluded his presentation in saying, “thank you for supporting and standing behind a very good organization”.

Joe Freudenberger, Chief Executive Office at OakBend Medical Center addressed those in attendance sharing that “OakBend is the last remaining independent non-profit hospital in the Houston area”.  OakBend Medical Center offers a variety of programs that has direct benefits to its patients.  “We only provide superior quality care, and we hope that we will be your family’s choice”.  Mr. Freudenberger then thanked all who came out to honor local enforcement and for visiting their Richmond location.
