“Muslim American Society of Katy is very excited to have guests visit us on Friday, January 6. We greatly appreciate the support and show of solidarity from our brothers and sisters in humanity at a time when Muslim American communities have been subjected to worst kinds of misinformation, assumptions, and mistrust.” Says Nafisa Munshi, from the MAS Outreach Committee. “Our mosque has always had its doors open for our neighbors and friends. This event will go a long way in helping people know their Muslim neighbors. We cannot be more excited about this visit and sincerely thank Ms. Kristin Miller for organizing it. These voices have to be heard louder for us ALL to prosper. We are together in peace against hate!”
Community organizer, Kristin Miller, recently attended a similar event at the Sugar Land Mosques coordinated by Ligi Varghese and was inspired to bring that same love and support to the local Katy Islamic Center. “The days of loving your neighbor from your couch are over! It’s time to get out the door and show it! Hate is receiving too much press – It’s time for love to be the headline of the day!” Please join us at the event on January 6th at 1:00 pm – and bring your warm smiles, open hearts and positive vibes!
In support of this event, the Mamie George Community Center (MGCC) invites families and friends to come to the center on December 30th at 10 a.m. for an intergenerational poster-making workshop to create friendship banners and signage for the Day of Solidarity.

Old and young are invited to come out and work together to create posters and art that will be displayed at the January 6th MAS Katy Center event. This is free community workshop that will also give those who may not be able to attend in January, because of school or other obligations, a chance to show their support.
If you would like to attend the event, the workshop at MGCC, or donate toward the cost of the lapel pins, please email Kristin Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org. All suggestions and ideas are welcomed.
