On the volleyball courts:
The Lady Tigers and Lady Spartans of Katy High School and Seven Lakes High School respectively, advance to the quarterfinals in the 2016 UIL State Volleyball Championships.

In Bi-district competition Taylor lost to Austin 3-2, Seven Lakes beat Travis 3-0, Katy took care of Dulles 3-2 and Cinco Ranch lost to Ridge Point 3-0.

At Area level Seven Lakes eliminated Cypress Ranch 3-1 and Katy sent Cypress Woods home 3-0.

Tomorrow, Nov. 8, in the quarterfinals Seven Lakes faces Langham Creek, 7:00 p.m. at Wheeler Field House; Katy tangles with Ridge Point in the early game, 5:00 p.m., same place.

Winners advance to Semifinals on the 11th.
