dsc_2122HOUSTON (Sept. 29, 2016) – Magic, mystery and… MONSTERS! have taken over the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center as pandemonium is unleashed for three weeks during the “Halloween Monster Mayhem.”  From October 11 to 29, 2016 we invite you to have a spine-tingling experience trick-or-treating, experimenting with monstrous matters, or participating in spirit-lifting activities.  Wander through nerve-wracking havoc in search of goblin goodies, terrifying trinkets and more!

  • Go on a trick-or-treat monster hunt, 4 – 6 p.m. weekdays, and all day Saturdays!
  • Ooze with ickiness as you create a gooey concoction of Monster Slime, 1 – 3 p.m., on 22
  • Put yourself in monsters’ shoes during Monster Feet Making, 1 – 3 p.m., on 29.

Play Dr. Frankenstein and bring monsters to life during our Hair Raising WonderWeek, Oct. 11 to 20, when Glow in the Dark Monsters reveal themselves.  Put on your Wickedly Mad Scientist Wigs and Goggles and wire together your own electrifyingly Freaky Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein Masks.   Hook up hand crank generators to a volt-meter and transmogrify mechanical energy into electrical energy.  Let’s hope you have a hair raising good time!

Cast an eerie spell during our Halloween Tricks and Spells WonderWeek, Oct. 21 to 29.  Explore color mixing as you read Mike Austin’s “Monsters Love Colors” and then create your own colorful monster!  Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble, Eye of newt and scale of dragon; make enchanting Popsicle stick potion bottles and capture the magic.  Put on your charm, become a snake charmer, and make slithering snakes embrace your arms as Charming Snake [bead] Bracelets.  Celebrate all things creepy and crawly as you evoke your fingers to spin out of control to create Spider Web designs.  Then, examine deposits of slime left by slobbering monsters.
